ButterfliesSounds of a body touched my ears; sounds of a life that could have been real. The rustle of a delicate fabric as it brushed by itself. The sound as an arm swept past smooth skin. I listened, intent, to the shifting of silken hair and the gentle thump as dense weight met the floor.   
But I was all too aware of the silence, really.   
Merely an emptiness as slight limbs came to rest. Absence of breath from between cold lips. And the absence, always absence, of a shudder; a beating heart.
